Mint Infused Limeade Recipe
Even though it's getting colder outside, we can still enjoy cold drinks that are refreshing and full of flavor. Furthermore, these drinks don't have to be difficult to make, be time consuming or otherwise require unusual equipment. With two young kids under 4 years old in the house, I don't have the free time available to be doing any kitchen marathon sessions.
This recipe is so refreshing and delicious, you'll wonder where it has been your whole life. Let's get to the recipe now, shall we?
Mint Infused Limeade Recipe
Ingredients:
Juice of 1 lime
3 tbsp. sugar
4-6 fresh mint leaves
Directions:
Boil about 1 cup water on the stove. Dissolve the sugar in the water. Place the mint leaves inside the hot sugar water. Let them steep (infuse) for at least 15 minutes- the longer, the better. Aim for about 40 minutes. Then remove the mint leaves, add the lime juice and top with ice cubes. Keep in mind this drink can be customized to your taste. Do you like sweeter drinks? Add more sugar. You can use 5 tbsp. sugar, for example. Want more mint flavor? Steep more mint leaves. Or steep the mint leaves for a longer time frame, like 2 hours. You will get a nice, strong mint flavor in this case. Looking for a more tart drink? Use the juice of two limes or add some lime zest into the drink. You can even use lemons if you have those in the house and want to make lemonade!
Another variation of this recipe is to use this drink as a base to make ice pops. Simply pour some of the finished drink liquid into ice pop molds, put them in the freezer for several hours to let them harden and then pop them out. Enjoy the mint limeade ice pops!
If you want to reduce the calories in this drink, there are a few easy choices. You can use a zero calorie granulated sweetener, like Stevia. Another great artificial sweetener to use would be Splenda brand sweetener. Instead, you can use a little bit of honey or agave nectar.
Place in refrigerator to chill. Serve cold! This drink recipe would be delicious with many snacks, such as a serving of popcorn, potato chips, cheese & crackers, fresh fruit, and pretzels.
